Discover Shinjuku Toyama Park: Cherry Blossoms, Culture & Views

Shinjuku Toyama Park

Shinjuku’s Largest Park with the Legacy of a Daimyo Garden

Located between Shinjuku and Shin-Okubo, Shinjuku Toyama Park is a peaceful green oasis that offers a refreshing break from the fast-paced city life.

Covering approximately 18.6 hectares (186,471.81 square meters)—around four times the size of Tokyo Dome—it is the largest metropolitan park in Shinjuku Ward.

The park is especially beautiful in spring with cherry blossoms, and in autumn with colorful foliage. Whether you’re jogging, picnicking, or taking a stroll, it’s a popular spot for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.

A Glimpse into Its History

During the Edo period, this area was once home to Toyama-so, the suburban residence of the Owari branch of the Tokugawa family. Today, you can still spot remnants of the former daimyo garden—making this park not only scenic but also historically rich.
