A Space to Forget the Hustle and Bustle of the City

Established in 2017 as a new attraction in Shinjuku and Yoyogi, “Hobo Shinjuku Noren Street(ほぼ新宿のれん街)” is a large-scale alley that converted ten traditional Japanese houses into a dining and drinking district.

Within the ten traditional houses, you’ll find a variety of unique dining establishments, including Gyoza bars, beef tongue izakayas, Italian restaurants, Asian cuisine, yakitori grills, seafood grills, eel skewers, tempura, karaoke bars, and more.

The diversity of restaurants is truly remarkable, with each offering its own distinct character.

The location is conveniently situated just a 1-minute walk from Yoyogi Station or a 5-minute walk from the south exit of Shinjuku Station. Nestled at the foot of the towering Docomo Tower, the atmosphere exudes a sense of nostalgia, as if time has stood still.

“Hobo Shinjuku Noren Street” is a project that focuses on “reviving traditional Japanese houses and revitalizing the food and beverage industry.” It aims to maximize the unique charm of traditional Japanese houses while proposing new experiences.

The establishments lining the streets of Hobo Shinjuku Noren Street are a showcase of the distinctive charms that are uniquely Japanese. With a nostalgic Showa-era ambiance and a wide selection of places to enjoy a drink or two, it’s a perfect spot for a night out.

Moreover, you can also enjoy various performances such as caricatures, magic, and juggling, making it a true entertainment space centered around food.

Hobo Shinjuku Noren Street Warehouse Annex

In 2022, “Hobo Shinjuku Noren Street Warehouse Annex,” Japan’s first entire warehouse-style district, opened, further enhancing the atmosphere with its retro “warehouses” alongside traditional Japanese houses. The weekend daytime atmosphere is equally charming, making it an excellent choice for a daytime drink.

Right outside Yoyogi Station’s east exit, just about 0 minutes away, seven unique establishments have set up shop, offering a variety of options from popular horse meat izakayas to budget diners, Korean cuisine, spare ribs, tuna and chicken, sushi izakayas, oyster and wine bars.

Opening hours vary by day and individual establishments. Some open as early as 11 AM, and most remain open until 3 AM or 4 AM. Closing times are typically at 11 PM or 11:30 PM.

“Hobo Shinjuku Noren Street” is filled with unique attractions, so be sure to visit and experience the exciting atmosphere for yourself!
