On April 14, 2023, “Shinjuku Kabuki Hall-Kabukicho” opened in the Kabukicho Tower, which is a hotel and entertainment complex. The facility features a “food festival street” with a theme of “festival,” which blends food, music, and visuals in 10 different stores. The Kabuki Hall, which boasts “every day is a festival,” occupies approximately 1,000 square meters of floor space, and features a wide range of Japanese “soul food,” including locally sourced and carefully selected produce straight from the producers, regional cuisine, B-class gourmet, rice bowls, noodles, yakitori, gyoza, and sake from Hokkaido to Kyushu, Okinawa, and neighboring Korea.

At “Tohoku Food Festival,” Nebuta floats created by Ryusei Uchiyama, a master of Nebuta art, decorate the interior of the store. At “Kyushu-Okinawa Food Festival,” Higashigawa’s Hakata Gion Yamakasa, created by doll artist Nishikawa, adds to the festive atmosphere. In “Chugoku-Shikoku Food Festival,” Koi-Nobori lanterns created by Mr. Kono from the Yanai City Kingyo Chochin Festival add color to the interior.

Furthermore, in the “Kinki Food Festival,” scenes that exaggerate Japanese style to the fullest, such as Dotonbori Shopping Street and nostalgic shooting galleries, have been transformed into entertainment landscapes.

In addition, the hall is equipped with state-of-the-art lighting and sound systems, including a large LED vision, DJ booth, mirror ball, and karaoke. Popular anime, artists, and comedians hold events on the center stage every night, and every Friday, traditional performing arts such as festival groups, taiko drumming, oiran courtesan procession, and sword fighting collaborate with Kabuki Hall to showcase unique performances.

It is expected that it will become a new community hub that connects people in Kabukicho, a neighborhood that symbolizes diversity and chaos, offering an experiential space that goes beyond the boundaries of a restaurant district, while disseminating Japanese culture from across the country.
