One is \u201cinformal Japanese food\u201d such as \u201cwashoku\u201d that Japanese people usually eat. The other is a high-class \u201cformal Japanese food\u201d Kaiseki (\u61d0\u77f3) or kaiseki-ry\u014dri (\u61d0\u77f3\u6599\u7406) which is a traditional multi-course Japanese dinner. The overwhelming popularity among Japanese and foreigners are \u201cinformal Japanese food\u201d such as ramen, okonomiyaki, pork cutlet and more.<\/p>\n<p>There are so many low-priced but very tasty local food restaurants in Shinjuku. Don\u2019t leave Japan without trying!!<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u5bff\u53f8\u3000Sushi<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/sushi.jpeg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Sushi\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sushi is a dish made with vinegared rice to keep the ram fish fresh.<br \/>\nThere are 5 main types of sushi: Nigiri-zushi, Maki-zushi, Oshi-zushi, Chirashi-zushi, Inarizushi<\/p>\n<p>Nigiri-zushi is the general term people use to call \u201cSushi\u201d. Meaning \u201chand-pressed sushi\u201d, formed into a rectangle, with a swipe of wasabi, and adding a topping like salmon, tuna or another seafood.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u523a\u8eab\u3000Sashimi <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/sashimi.jpeg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Sashimi \" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sashimi means \u201cpierced body\u201d, a piece of meat that is usually a raw slice of seafood but is not always seafood nor always raw. Soba is about as thick as spaghetti, and can be served either hot or cold and with various toppings of choice.<\/p>\n<p>Soba dipping sauce is made with bonito broth, soy sauce, sweet sake and some sugar.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u30fb \u3046\u3069\u3093\u3000Udon<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/udon.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Udon\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Udon is a type of Japanese noodles made of wheat flour.<br \/> Udon is thicker than soba and is also served either hot or cold and with various toppings, such as fried tofu (kitsune udon), tempura (tempura udon), and mountain vegetables (sansai udon).<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u30fb \u305d\u3046\u3081\u3093\u3000Somen<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/soumen.jpeg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Somen\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Like Udon noodles, somen is a Japanese noodles also made of wheat flour, but they are much thinner than Udon and Soba.<br \/>\nSomen are usually eaten cold and are considered a summer specialty.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u30fb \u713c\u304d\u305d\u3070\u3000Yakisoba<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/yakisoba.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Yakisoba\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yakisoba is grilled or fried Chinese style noodles mixed with pieces of meat, cabbage, carrots, or other vegetables and then garnished with red ginger. It is a popular festival food.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u30fb \u3064\u3051\u9eba\u3000Tsukemen<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/tsukemen.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"tsukemen\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tsukemen (Dipping noddles) is similar to ramen but the noodles and broth are in separate bowls which you dip and eat like soba.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u713c\u304d\u9ce5\u3000Yakitori<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/yakitori.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Yakitori\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yakitori are skewered charcoal grilled chicken pieces seasoned with salt or sauce. <\/p>\n<p>Nearly every part of the chicken is on the menu, all grilled to perfection, seasoned with either shio (salt) or tare (a sweet soy sauce-based sauce).<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u3068\u3093\u304b\u3064\u3000Tonkatsu<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/tonkatsu.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Tonkatsu\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tonkatsu is breaded and deep-fried pork. Especially when it\u2019s kuro-buta (Berkshire pork) from Kagoshima, it will melt-in-your-mouth it&#8217;s so tender, and it is even served with a side of miso soup and a mountain of shredded cabbage.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u4e3c\u3076\u308a\u3000Donburi<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/donburi.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Donburi\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Donburi refers to a bowl of plain cooked rice with some other food on top of it. Donburi is served at specialty restaurants, but they are also common dishes that can be found at all kinds of restaurants menus across Japan.<br \/>\nSome of the most popular varieties are gyudon (stewed beef), katsudon (tonkatsu), tendon (tempura), oyakodon (chicken and egg), tekkadon (maguro), and kaisendon (raw seafood).<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u304a\u597d\u307f\u713c\u304d\u3000Okonimiyaki<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/okonomiyaki.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Okonimiyaki\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Okonomiyaki is a kind of Japanese-style savoury pancake or pizza. It is usually made from eggs, flour, water, shredded cabbage, yam and some meat.<br \/>\nThere are two styles of cooking okonomiyaki, Osaka style and Hiroshima style.<br \/>\nIn Osaka style, we scramble every ingredient and fry on the griddle.<br \/>\nIn Hiroshima style, we pile up each ingredient in order, and then usually sandwich noodles between them.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u304a\u3067\u3093 Oden<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/oden.jpeg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Oden\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The ingredients (potatoes, hard-boiled eggs, konyaku, Japanese radish, Hanpen and so on) are boiled together in a large pot with a soup seasoned with soy sauce and dried bonito flakes.<br \/>\nHot mustard goes really well with oden.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u3046\u306a\u91cd\u3000Unaju<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/unagi.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Unaju\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Unaju is a dish that the eel is sliced open, brushed with a salty sweet sauce, broiled and finally served on a hot cooked rice.<br \/>\nThey often serve Unaju with multiple layers of the cooked rice and the Unagi strips.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u304b\u3089\u3042\u3052\u3000Karaage<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/karaage.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Karaage\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Karaage&#8217; is a Japanese fried meat (usually chicken) which you cover in flour and deep fry in oil.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u4e32\u304b\u3064  Kushikatsu<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/kushiyaki.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Kushikatsu\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Its origin is Shinsekai in Osaka. &#8220;Kushikatsu&#8221; consists of meat and seasonal vegetables cut in mouthful portions. These are skewered on bamboo Kushi. Dipped is egg flour and panko or bread crumbs and deep fried in vegetable oil. Served straight or with shredded cabbage and miso soup which is a traditional Japanese soup consisting of a stock called dashi.<br \/>\n<br style=\"clear:both;\" \/><\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>\u25cf \u30ab\u30ec\u30fc\u30e9\u30a4\u30b9\u3000Curry rice<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/yokoso-shinjuku.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/curry-rice.jpg\" width=\"331\" alt=\"Curry rice\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is a Japanese curry with rice. Curry is one of the most popular dishes in Japan, along with ramen noodles and sushi.
